The goal of every person should be to finish well. One cannot choose where they started from. It is beyond our control as to what we are subjected to. What is within our power is to look beyond circumstances and confidently persevere, to have the courage to embrace and speak or goals and dreams.

The wide variety of the human journey is astounding, no one walking the same path and rarely are two people aiming for the same exact goals in life. What is common is those who know their destination and make daily, even sometimes minute by minute tough decisions to move in the direction of their dreams despite plenty of reasons to quit, find satisfaction in this life.

There are many things that can derail a dream or blow people off course. Having a guide to encourage and help pick up the pieces so you can journey on is part of the secret to success. No man or woman is an island unto themselves. Recognize you are part of something bigger and seek those who while not traveling the same path to the same goals, are persevering courageously toward their own. They may hold part of the key to your success and you theirs.

‘No Man is an Island’ No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

From Meditation XVII Devotions upon Emergent Occasions John Donne
